We are delighted to share that our Head of Marketing, Skye Bulmer, has been named Young Marketing Specialist of the Year at the 2026 Money Marketing Young Financial Planner Awards.
The award was presented in London on 6 October and recognises Skye’s work in developing an education-led approach to marketing at Wealth of Advice, helping us to reach and support more people as they approach and enjoy retirement.
Skye joined Wealth of Advice in 2021 as a Digital Marketing Assistant, having previously studied Graphic Design at Sunderland University.
Just two years later, she progressed to become Head of Marketing, taking responsibility for the Wealth of Advice brand and overseeing their website, educational materials, events, video content and wider marketing activity.
A major part of this has been the creation and continued growth of the Retire Well Podcast, which now reaches more than 10,000 active listeners each week.
Created to make conversations around retirement and financial planning more accessible, the podcast provides regular educational content for people approaching or already enjoying retirement.
Skye manages the entire process behind the podcast, from filming and editing through to scheduling and promotion. Its growth has helped introduce Wealth of Advice to a much wider audience, with enquiries to the business almost doubling from 2024 to 2025.
It is this focus on education-driven marketing, rather than simply promoting financial advice, that was highlighted as a key part of Skye’s award-winning approach.
For Skye, receiving national recognition is particularly meaningful given how quickly her career has developed.
“As a first-time applicant for the award, I feel incredibly grateful to have been recognised for my hard work. I only joined the financial services industry five years ago in an assistant role, so it feels like a significant achievement to be where I am today.”
“I’ve always believed that our marketing should genuinely help people. Whether that’s through the podcast, our videos, events or educational content, the aim is to take topics that can sometimes feel complicated and make them useful and accessible.”
The achievement is also an important milestone for Wealth of Advice, with Skye becoming the first member of the team to win an individual industry award.
Chris, Managing Director at Wealth of Advice, said:
“We’re incredibly proud of Skye and how far she has come since joining Wealth of Advice in 2021. To progress from Digital Marketing Assistant to Head of Marketing in such a short period is testament to her hard work, creativity and the impact she has had on the business.”
“Skye is also the first member of the Wealth of Advice team to win an individual industry award, which makes this a particularly special achievement. The success of the Retire Well Podcast and the growth we’ve seen across the business demonstrate the real value of the work she is doing. It’s fantastic to see that recognised nationally.”
The award has an extra significance for Skye, who has lived in the North East throughout her life and is based in Consett.
After studying Graphic Design at University of Sunderland, she was frequently told that pursuing a successful career in the creative and marketing industries would likely mean moving to London.
Five years into her career at Wealth of Advice, she travelled to London for a very different reason: to collect a national marketing award.
Skye added:
“When I was studying, I was often told that I would probably have to move to London to find the opportunities I wanted. I’ve lived in the North East my whole life, so being able to stay true to my roots, build my career here and then travel to London to receive a national award makes it feel even more special.”
From all of us at Wealth of Advice, congratulations Skye!
If you want a better view of what your future could be, we'll have a chat and work out if we make a good fit for you and your financial picture.
